Invisible, Inc. Troubleshooting Guide

If you are having an issue that affects your ability to play Invisible, Inc. such as major graphical issues, crashing issues, or performance problems, there are a few things you should do before reporting the problem.

General Troubleshooting Steps

Download and install the latest updates for your operating system - Ensure that your operating system has been updated to the latest version (PC/Mac/Linux)

Check your drivers -  Outdated drivers are one of the first things to check when any software is having problems. Make sure that all of your drivers are updated. 

Check you system specs - Make sure your system meets Invisible, Inc’s system requirements. If it does not, you are still welcome to file a report; just make sure to let us know what the the computer specs are. 

Security software - Unfortunately malware, firewall and virus protection programs can be a bit unpredictable at times. Try disabling anything you have running then try running the game again.

3rd-party software - Pop-up blockers, ad-blockers, and other types of software running in the background can sometimes cause problems. Turn off anything you have running in the background then try running the game again.

Disable Steam Overlay - Steam Overlay has it's own rendering process in the background while a game is being launched or played. Ensure the game is fully closed, then try disabling the Steam Overlay option for Invisible, Inc. before running the game again.

Game Is Crashing

Often, the problems that users are experiencing are a result of local game files being corrupted, or incompletely downloaded. These problems include missing textures or effects, or crashing when loading specific areas or items, while the game generally runs fine.

Verify the integrity of Invisible Inc game files on Steam - Verifying the integrity of your game files ensures that there are no game files missing and corrupted files are replaced.
  • Right-click Invisible, Inc. in your Steam Library > "Properties"
  • Select the "Local Files" tab;
  • Click the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button
  • When the process is complete, launch Invisible, Inc.

Uninstall/Re-install Invisible, Inc.- Same as verifying your game cache, uninstalling then reinstalling the game will ensure that missing or corrupted files are replaced.

Re-Run Installers
  • Can’t start the game
  • .exe crashes
  • Black Screens

Re-install DXSetup in folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\InvisibleInc\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe

Re-install VCRedist in folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\InvisibleInc\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012\vcredist_x86.exe

After doing these two steps, run the game again.

Video Memory

Invisible, Inc. require video cards with dedicated RAM of 256 MB or higher. Systems with video cards under 256 MB may experience intermittent crashing.

To check what kind of graphics card you have, you can perform the following steps in Windows:
  • Click Start.
  • On the Start menu, click Run.
  • In the Open box, type "dxdiag" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK.
  • The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens. Click the Display tab.
  • On the Display tab, information about your graphics card is shown in the Device section. You can see the name of your card, as well as how much video memory it has.

ENSURE THAT YOUR SYSTEM IS RUNNING THE GAME WITH DEDICATED GPU (Not Integrated)

Some laptops with NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards actually contain two graphics chips; an Intel integrated chip for power-saving and a dedicated NVIDIA or AMD chip for high-performance uses such as gaming. Your graphics driver will detect which chip to use based on the program that you're running, but may not correctly detect that the high performance chip is required to run Invisible, Inc.

You will have to go into your AMD (CCC Control Panel) or NVIDIA Control Panel and force your dedicated GPU to launch and run Invisible, Inc. instead of your integrated Intel card.
