Logs and Useful Information for Bug Reports for Don't Starve: Hamlet

If you encounter any kind of issues while playing Don't Starve: Hamlet and require support either through the Don't Starve: Hamlet Bug Tracker or through our support desk, here are a number of files you may want to include that will help provide us with more details about the bug.

Please note, Don't Starve: Hamlet now has a bug reporter tool built into the game. If you are running into any issues, here's how to report the issue from in-game:

- From the main menu, click on Options;
- In the Options menu, click Report Bug;
- Click on Enter Bug Description and type in what you were doing or what the issue that you encountered was. Submitting the bug report will upload your game information and saved game worlds to us for investigation.

For all other Bug Reports or Support Requests please provide the files and useful information list below.

For Windows PC
For Mac OSX
For Linux OS
 

FOR WINDOWS PC


DXDIAG
- Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to access the "Run" window
- On the Run window, type in dxdiag.exe and press enter; this will open up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool



- Click on the "Save All Information" tab on the diagnostic tool
- A "Save As..." window will pop up where you can click on save. It will save your hardware information as a document to your desktop (default).
- Close the diagnostic tool and attach the new document to your forum post or support ticket.

LOG.TXT FILE
You will be able to find Don't Starve's log.txt file in your documents folder at Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve\log.txt

BACKUP_LOG.TXT FILE
You will be able to find Don't Starve's backup_log.txt file in your documents folder at Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve\log.txt

SAVE FILES
If Steam Cloud is enabled
– Provide us with your "remote" folder. You will find your save folder for Don't Starve in your Steam folders at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{Your Steam ID}\219740\
Please zip up your "Remote" folder and attach that zipped file to your bug report or support ticket.

If Steam Cloud is disabled – Provide us with a zipped "save" folder - found in your Documents folder on Windows. You will find your save folder for Don't Starve (cloud disabled) in C:\Users\{User Name}\Documents\Klei\donotstarve\save\
Zip up your "save" folder and attach that zipped file to your bug report or support ticket. 
 

FOR MAC OS X


MAC SYSTEM SPECS
- Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your Mac, where the navigation/menu bar is located
- Click "About This Mac", a new window will open up
- Click on Overview Tab for your basic computer specs (including Processor, Memory, and Graphics Card)
- Provide our team with your full Mac specs list

LOG FILE
On Mac, you will be able to find your log.txt file in ~/Documents/Klei/DoNotStarve/log.txt

BACKUP_LOG.TXT FILE
On Mac, you will be able to find your log.txt file in ~/Documents/Klei/DoNotStarve/backup_log.txt

SAVE FILES
If Steam Cloud is enabled – Provide us with your "remote" folder. You will find your save folder for Don't Starve in your Steam folders at ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/{unique ID}/219740/remote/
Please zip up your "Remote" folder and attach that zipped file to your bug report or support ticket.

If Steam Cloud is disabled – Provide us with a zipped "save" folder - found in your Documents folder on Windows. You will find your save folder for Don't Starve (cloud disabled) in ~/Documents/Klei/DoNotStarve/save/
Zip up your "save" folder and attach that zipped file to your bug report or support ticket. 
 

FOR LINUX


LINUX SYSTEM SPECS
Please provide a description of your hardware specs - generally providing your lshw is a convenient way of listing the computer's spec list.

LOG FILE
On LINUX, you will find your log file in ~/.klei/DoNotStarve/log.txt

BACKUP_LOG.TXT FILE
On LINUX, you will find your log file in ~/.klei/DoNotStarve/backup_log.txt

SAVE FILES
If Steam Cloud is enabled – Provide us with your "remote" folder. You will find your save folder for Don't Starve in your Steam folders at /home/steam/.local/share/Steam/userdata/{unique ID}/219740/
Please zip up your "Remote" folder and attach that zipped file to your bug report or support ticket.
